When Will This Nightmare End?!

3 06 2008

When was the last time i posted anything? I cant really remember,, I cant even remember the last time i had a good night’s sleep ! The last couple of weeks have been hectic, I cant wait till this awful semester’s over. 2 more days to go !
Yesterday I had two finals, and i cant really say i did well in either of them. Actually i did really bad in the second one. Left half the pages blank.. Yep,, I just didnt know what to write! Ofcourse i made up some values and guessed on a few questions so i wouldn’t leave it ENTIRELY blank, but that wont do. And to think i was aiming for an A! Huh ! Guess i can kiss that one goodbye.
Today i had one lousy final, and again i didnt do good, let’s just hope the doctor feels sorry for me and gives me a better grade than i deserve :P It’s a good thing i didnt fall asleep during the exam.
Now am too tired to study for my last final -.- I think am gonna take today off and start studying tomorrow..

Allah Yaster bs,, Madry sh’aakhrat’ha m3a hal Kuleya !

Victims of KU

5 05 2008

I wonder if it’s like that in all universities or just KU? that the students are always the victims, in each and every situation even if they’re not responsible for whatever’s happening. Last week i learned that i had two midterms on the same day. That sucks i know, but what can i do right? i decided to go to one of the professors and ask about the time of his exam, and guess what? both exams start at 12:30 and end at 2:00pm! Now what can i do about that?! i mean come on, how am i supposed to be in two places at once?!
I went to both professors and told them about the situation, neither one believed me at first. I had to go back and forth between them till one of them decided to “THINK” about it. He asked me to come back the next day, i did but ofcourse he was still trying to figure out what to do. Finally, when i asked him today -i was expecting him to say something like; i dont know yet, or im not sure- he told me there were other students with the same problem so we’re gonna have to take the exam after 5 days from the original date. I was too happy to listen to what he was saying after, i mean who wouldn’t want to have five extra days to study or review? Especially when you’re not ready and the subject is very hard! My happy moment was exactly just that, a moment. I heard the doctor mention something about the exam being harder, so i asked him about it, and here’s what happened,

Me: “Doctor did you just say el emte7an bekoon 9a3eb?”
Professor: “Yes el midterm ra7 ekoon a93ab mn the original one. Like an incomplete”
Me: “Mo thanbna eli 9ar, you cant do that”
Professor: “Wala thanbi ana” *smiles*
Me: “Bs doctor this subject is one of the hardest subjects we have to take o el kameya wayed”
Professor: “Again, mo thanbi” and he leaves.

So now im stuck at home studying for God knows how long, and i know im not gonna do good. Somehow whenever i hear the word “Incomplete” i imagine getting 2/25, and this isn’t any subject we’re talking about, its Thermodynamics !

Ed3ooli people, i need an A ! =(

Spelling mistake..

14 04 2008

Spelling mistakes can be forgiven in an email.. on a post-it.. in a memo maybe.. but would you misspell something on an advertisement? especially when spell check is used in almost every application now.

here is what I found when I was on facebook today.

spelling-error.png

Finaly ?? is it that hard spell check now? or was it an urgent advertisement? I just think it’s stupid.

“this is one of the posts I really hope I can write without a spelling mistake!!”

Job hunting..

29 03 2008

I never imagined how hard it is to find a job in this country, and trust me .. qualification, enthusiasm, interest, and hard-work doesn’t really make a difference. For the past 3 months I have been doing an internship for XYZ company in Kuwait doing the one thing I love to do and I’m not going to disclose that because once I say it it will be obvious which company I was interning at. for the 3 months that I attended they haven’t seen anything but hardwork, interest, and giving from me. which I have to say it was greatly appreciated by the people working with me and my supervisors.

But this wasn’t the problem, and me working there for an extention of 2 extra months unpaid wasn’t the problem either. The problem is the upper management which from some reason decided to keep my application on hold for no given reason even though the department requires more resources.

So now I realize i’m hanging out at home unemployed looking for a job. and that is one hell of a job by it self.. I sent my resumes out for alot of companies, in and out of kuwait, with no clear response yet. So now I started the modern way to see if that helps, I started applying through recruitment websites which I found useful honestly but non effective yet. here is what I have been using lately:

  1. Gulf Connexions
  2. Monster Gulf
  3. E-Financial Career
  4. Albourne

If anyone have more suggestions of what I should do please go ahead and share it. I’m very interesting in Hedgefunds.

19 08 2007

Today at 11:30am I start my trip! here is the plan…

We are going to start the trip in Geneva for a little more than a week, it’s going to be one hell of a start for the trip.. we are planning to drive around between Geneva (swiss), France, and Italy until the 28th of August. on the 28th we will head to Amsterdam for about 4 nights or until the 1st of September. Then we head to out Rotterdam for our internship at Robeco which will last until the 23rd of November.

I’m excited about the trip. the vacation part should be amazing and lots of fun with the guys… and i’m even happier because of the experience i’m going to be getting at the internship.

Wish me the best people! and I hope the best for my colleagues at the training program in their internships in London, Frankfurt, and Boston.

Updates about the trip and the internship will be posted hopefully as much as I hope for ;)

Telescopes are fun

13 07 2007

Last week G got his new telescope “so we can see starts” but we ended up seeing people walking on different planets with this telescope! the thing is so damn huge! but seriously this telescope is one hell of a toy.. we got to see Jupiter and it’s 4 moons. here is a picture of the telescope and then I will list some of it’s amazing features.

telescope.gif

Now some of the features:

  1.  11″ diffraction limited Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope
  2.  Fully computerized
  3. Finderscope to help find objects.
  4. Remote control to show information hands free
  5. 40,000 Objects programmed into the GPS system of the telescope (yes it automatically searches for objects in the sky and align the telescope for you to see)

It’s simply amazing! very nice purchase G ;)

Jareer bookstore

9 07 2007

Few days ago I went to Al-Jareer bookstore in Hawali. it’s located across the street from Hawali Co-Op. I was actually impressed by the store. I loved the variety of products they have in the store such as:

  • Obviously books (Arabic and English)
  • Educational materials
  • Computers and it’s accessories
  • Painting stuff.. brushes, colors, sketching books and so on
  • Some electronics

I really loved their books selection .. bought a book about direct trading strategies and also a novel for Najeeb mahfouth. well post about them once I read them.

Go and check it out.. ;)
