Dumbledore is gay?? WTH JK?! Email This Post Print This Post

May 6th, 2008 by Weld El-Ma6aba | 8

Ok i know its old news but i ‘ve always been too busy to think about it, and now (that am escaping from the pressure of midterms and all the finals coming up) i cant stop thinking about all sorts of silly things, and what’s bugging me right now is one thing i just remembered hearing about a few months ago. ALBUS DUMBLEDORE was gay? Dont get me wrong, am not against gay people at all, but in the whole book series nothing was mentioned about the possibility of Dumbledore being gay! JK (the author) just blurted it out during a reading of the last book! One fan asked whether Albus Dumbledore, the head of the famed Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, had ever loved anyone. Rowling smiled. “Dumbledore is gay, actually,” she replied as the audience erupted in surprise.
Hmmm,, isn’t Harry potter supposed to be a children’s book? Why the gay character then? I really dont see why she needed to add that. It would’ve been completely different had she said something about it in one of her books but that wasn’t the case. And speaking of her books, the last one “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” wasn’t as good as i’d thought it would be, which is a shame really.. After the long wait and anticipation, after imagining almost every possible ending to the series, am sad to say i was disappointed with what JK thought of as the right ending.

Just something i wanted to get off my chest

    i agree the last book wasn’t as good as her previous ones, but to it wasn’t the ending the beginning i wasn’t really that hooked until i got to like the middle. i actually loved it when harry was at school that would be much better cuz i kinda got confused with all the horuxes:P

    on the other note, jk saying that dumbledore was gay is a very stupid thing not only was it a children’s book she actually ruined it for people who were imagining other stuff, the book is not based on dumbledore we do not need to know about his love life i didn’t even think about it cuz he’s the headmaster he’s probably a workaholic and didn’t have time romance ;p

    anywhoo i think she just blurted it out at the moment cuz she didn’t have anything else to say…… shame on her

    i think she just said it for fun.. and she got away with it because there’s nothing to contradict it in the books.. i think it was cool.. and about the children thing, the ones young enough who have their parents read them the books won’t even think about it.. and the older kids are old enough to understand homosexuality.. but i seriously didn’t enough think about at all when i read the last book.. (did she say y before or after the release?)

    q8ya, I dont really remember the beginning of the book, 9ayra wayed ansa hal ayam =p bs honestly i dont think i’ve ever enjoyed reading the beginning of any of HP books! Especially the first one.
    And making Dumbledore gay is not just stupid, its MEANINGLESS! i totally agree with u on what u said, no one wants to know about dumby’s love life!

    snookie, I dont think she said it for fun, i think she just loves the publicity so much that she can never get enough of it. And yes there was nothing to contadict it in the books that’s exactly why she said it, “Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald [a bad wizard he defeated long ago]” Said JK.
    I dont think all kids who read HP are old enough to understand homosexuality, but even if they were, why DUMBLEDORE?! if it were Snape i would’ve laughed and accepted it 3ala6oooooool =p
    She said it after the release ;

It was hard for him to get his msgs out there because ppl found em a bit weird. well DD [IS] weird and yet 3nda the respect of loads of ppl. just like Da Vinci.

    that was 1.

    its just her way of trying to make children understand eno its OK to be Gay. And that they should be more excepting. cuz being different dznt mean ur a bad person. bil3ax. ITS A HUGE MSG.
