Kuwait University being sued Email This Post Print This Post

May 2nd, 2007 by Weld El-Ma6aba | 23

As I was checking whats on lifemood.comI found this article that explain why Almostaqilla is sueing Kuwait University. apparently the administration in KU has a distribution system for how grades are given for each class. which in no way is right, I mean how can you limit “A” grades for example to only 6% of the class?

I’m glad to see such an active group trying to look after students needs and rights. here is the document that shows the distribution of grades.

Special thanks goes to Almostaqilla for the effort, and thanks to Lifemood for the information.

“Someone” is absolutely correct. I am studying abroad and my college follows the same scheme in grading students. When correcting an exam they see who passes and who is border line and who doesn’t. Then the ones who passed are sub-divided to either A,B,C according to the normal distribution. A committee is set up to see those unfortunate who are border line. Their attendance, past progress in college, an oral interview would determine their fate.

That sucks!!! Well I don’t know if that was the case 10 years ago, but I was in the 6% of the A!! But still think it sucks!!! I hope something will be done about it!
I’m sure at least in Finland we don’t have that!!! That’s why my kid will be studying in Fin from High School!!!

mishref: i’m not sure if we are talking about the same thing.. from what i understood they don’t get the best and worse grades and what is in the middle get distributed according the the normal dist. i believe they stick to the percentages regardless… i’m not sure thought.. my post is based on what i understood.. and i’ll talk to my friend from elmostaqilla tomorrow to double check whats going on… btw i didn’t get the “someone’s part and i hate politics as well :P”

3amsha: i’m sure my kids when i have them won’t go to college in kuwait.. that is given! :P

  14. Weld el-ma6aba said:

14 or 15 is a little young for both guys and girls.. unless they are living with your mother.. 16 sounds like a good age to me

  15. Nora-Cassandra said:
