As everyone have been reading in the news, measles is spreading badly in Aljahra and the danger of it spreading to a wider geographical area is likely to happen if the necessary precaution are not taken.

Some fact about the virus..

Definition:
Measles is a highly contagious illness caused by a virus.

Symptoms:

  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Rash
  • Cough
  • Bloodshot eyes
  • Tiny white spots inside the mouth
  • Muscle pain
  • Light sensitivity

Treatment:
there is no specific treatment for measles. but a relieve can be reached by having bed rest, humidified air, pain relievers/fever reducers (such as Antipyretics… Antibiotics for bacterial complications such as ear infections), and vitamin A.

Vaccine:
Two doses of measles vaccine are recommended for children and certain adolescents and adults.

Hope this information helps and I would like to thank the Kuwaiti Ministry Of Health for the their efforts to fight this virus.

Best regards,
Weld El-Ma6aba
